Taveuni Ocean Sports is located at our family's eco dive resort – Nakia Resort & Dive – on Taveuni Island, Fiji. The Fiji Islands are in the center of the South Pacific, north of New Zealand and north-east of Australia. Taveuni is the third largest island in Fiji – a spectacularly beautiful paradise of rain forests, farms, and gardens, approximately 42 kilometers long and 12 kilometers wide, surrounded by world–class reefs.
Nakia Resort & Dive is on the upper west side of
Taveuni. Nakia is the top–rated resort in Fiji on Trip Advisor and the only family-operated dive resort on Taveuni. The resort is centrally located between the two largest towns on Taveuni. Matei is on the northern tip of Taveuni. Most resorts and the airport are located at Matei, a 15– minute drive north from Nakia and Taveuni Ocean Sports. Somosomo, the small ceremonial, commercial and shopping center of Taveuni, is a 10–minute drive south from our resort and dive center. The resort looks out on Vanua Levu and is a short boat trip to the Rainbow Reef and the other great diving sites of Northern Fiji.
It's easy to fly to Fiji. Fiji's International Airport in Nadi hosts daily direct international flights from Sydney, Auckland, Honolulu, and Los Angeles. Many guests fly with Air Pacific, which code shares with Quantas and New Zealand Air.
Fiji's domestic airline,
PacificSun, provides daily service to Taveuni's Matei airstrip from Nadi, Suva, and other Fijian cities. Flying time is between 60 and 90 minutes. Pacific Sun is owned by the international airline, Air Pacific, so you can book all the way through to Taveuni. However, you will need to claim your luggage in Nadi, pass through customs, and then check your luggage for the domestic flight when you check in at Pacific Sun's desk in the airport at Nadi.
Regularly scheduled ferries carry passengers, cargo, and vehicles between Taveuni and ports on the other islands.
